Position Statement for Workforce Development

SEK, Inc. supports Lt. Governor John Moore’s workforce development proposal and related strategies, enhancing existing educational and training resources, focusing on integration and coordination of workforce programs, and streamlining access to them by employers, employees, and job seekers. We encourage excellence in educational institutions, resulting in the interactive creation of an improved, skilled Kansas workforce and helping to place Kansas favorably in both a national and international context. Specifically and to achieve this end, SEK, Inc. proposes and supports the following goal-oriented objectives:

• Identify obstacles to employment in Kansas and implement effective solutions including the review of related laws with the possibility of revision.

• Coordinate childcare availability and review laws regarding such care with the possibility of revision.

• Maintain and improve the retention of employees (including ethnic, Senior Citizens, physically impaired, etc.) and employers in the Kansas workforce.
