Cherokee County

Labor Statistics   Industrial Park   Major Employers

The Cherokee County community is proud of its history. Baxter Springs recently reconstructed an earth-berm fort, Fort Blair, from the Civil War era. The Tri-State marker in the corner of the county marks the spot where Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma join.

About 80 percent of the land in Cherokee County is considered prime farm land. Much of this is utilized with cultivated crops. U.S. Dept. of Commerce classifies Cherokee County as a manufacturing county.

Paddlefish can be found in the Neosho River and numerous strip pits that have been converted to fishing areas.

To learn about our community, and the economic development opportunities, contact Pat Collins, Chairman of the Cherokee County Commission at P.O. Box 14, Columbus, KS 66725.
