Major Employers
Montgomery County, located along the Oklahoma border, is booming economically, and drawing national attention for a new employer - Amazon.com. A new warehouse is being constructed in Coffeyville. The Cessna Aircraft Plant is also a major employer in the area.
Community Colleges are located in both Coffeyville and Independence, the county seat.
Elk City Reservoir is a tourism anchor for outdoor recreation, and the Little House on the Prairie is also a draw of visitors.
