Wilson County is located along highway corridors 75,39 & 400. Highway improvements have stimulated new growth to the county. The Wilson County Hospital is presently constructing a new 43,000 square foot facility alongside 400 just west of Neodesha. KDOT has also announced plans of constructing a round about just east of the city of Fredonia, the county seat.

The Twin Rivers Industrial Park in Neodesha plays host to 10 industries employing over 1800, and as a result provide jobs throughout the area. The largest employer at over 800 associates, the Cobalt Boat Company, is known for its attention to detail and excellent customer service. 

The Fredonia Industrial Park is also located alongside highway 400 and is pad-ready with a variety of sites available. LaFarge North America a giant in the cement industry, is the largest employer for the Fredonia area.

Both communities take great pride in their historic legacies which include a little Osage Indian tradition, rich agricultural land and the ongoing development of oil and natural gas reserves. The city of Neodesha was host to a Standard Oil Refinery for some 70 years.

The county supports three school districts for the population of some 10,000 residents, the communities of Fredonia & Neodesha each having a population of nearly 3,000. 

Annual celebrations include the Neodesha Arts & Crafts Festival in early September and the weeklong Fredonia Homecoming Celebration in early October as well as the Wilson County Fair and Rodeo in July.
